With fiery Flamenco\,   Sephardic-Jewish music\, fiery dance\, and fascinating storytelling\, the program delves deep into the Golden Age of Spain\, a time of collaboration between the three Abrahamic faiths\, which led to cultural   and scientific peak achievements. With Andres Vadin – guitar\, Elinor Sitrish – vocals\, Jamie Papish – percussion\, and Yuval Ron – oud.\n\nThe Yuval Ron Ensemble endeavors to alleviate national\, racial\, religious and cultural divides by uniting the music and dance of the people of the Middle East into a unique mystical\, spiritual and inspiring musical celebration. The ensemble includes Jewish\, Christian and Muslim artists who have been actively involved in creating musical bridges between people of various faiths and ethnic groups worldwide. Led by Award winning composer Yuval Ron (music for Oscar winning film “West Bank Story”) the Ensemble has enjoyed overwhelming community support\, was chosen to be featured in PBS “Holiday Celebration” TV specials and was honored with the Los Angeles Treasures Award and the Lincoln/Standing Bear Gold Medal from the City of Lincoln\, NE in appreciation of its efforts for peace and justice worldwide. Manuel Gutierrez\, who began dancing flamenco at the age of four and was winning flamenco dance competitions by eight. DESCRIPTION:Esperanza Community Housing in collaboration with Inspired Sound Initiative presents:\n\n\n\nInspired Sound at Mercado la Paloma\n\nA Summer World Music Concert Series\n\n\nBarbara Morrison is a Jazz and Blues Legend.  As a Vocalist\, she has been featured on two Grammy Award-nominated albums\, and for a third Grammy Award-nominated album\, Barbara Morrison’s Blue Lady Records served as Producer.  A multi-hyphenate\, Barbara Morrison is also the Founder of The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center and Founder and President of the California Jazz & Blues Museum\, both located in Leimert Park\, CA.  Morrison also serves as an Associate Professor of Jazz Studies in the Global/Ethnomusicology Department at UCLA in Westwood\, CA. Morrison performs in a wide array of genres from traditional Jazz and Blues\, to Gospel and Pop.  Her melodic voice\, with its two-and-a-half-octave range\, is known worldwide\, as are her rich\, unique\, soulful\, and highly spirited interpretations of both\, familiar Jazz and Blues classics and original contemporary tunes.  Equally as striking is Morrison’s ability to belt out down-home\, soul-stirring Blues. Over the course of her 60-year career\, she has performed with a virtual “Who’s Who” of the Jazz and the Blues worlds.  That list includes Legends like:  Dizzy Gillespie\, Ray Charles\, James Moody\, Ron Carter\, Etta James\, Esther Phillips\, David T. These practices result in heart opening\, increased compassion\, deepening of inner explorations\, and have been shown scientifically to impact the structure and function of the brain in ways that enhance memory\, cognition and awareness. These practices also promote healing by lowering stress\, anxiety\, depression\, and anger. The activities are based on Yuval Ron’s work with master spiritual teachers of the Near East and neuroscientists of the West. Through this incredible journey to your inner world\, you will have a rare perspective into the worlds of mystic Sufi leaders\, Kabbalistic Rabbis\, leading Neuroscientists and scholars of the mysticism of Christianity. DESCRIPTION:Esperanza Community Housing in collaboration with Inspired Sound Initiative presents:\n\n\n\nInspired Sound at Mercado la Paloma\n\n\n\nA Summer World Music Concert Series\n\n\nCome and take part in Son Jarocho music\, a blend of indigenous Mexican\, African and Arabic sounds! Cambalache is a Chicano-Jarocho group based in East Los Angeles\, and led by César Castro. Cambalache plays and promotes traditional Son Jarocho through participatory performances\, so be prepared to catch that Cuban beat!\n\nCambalache was founded in 2009 by Cesar Castro (Master Luthier Sonero and Jarocho from Veracruz\, Mexico). Castro began studying Son Jarocho at the age of 11 with renowned harpist\, Andres Alfonso Vergara. He continued his studies with Gilberto Gutierrez of El Grupo Mono Blanco\, and at age\, 16\, he joined the group formally. With Mono Blanco\, Cesar not only traveled through Mexico\, the United Status and Europe\, he began teaching this cultural tradition in community centers\, schools and universities in Mexico City and Veracruz. From Gilberto Gutierrez he also learned laudería\, how to make instruments used in the son jarocho tradition. In 2001\, Cesar began working with Chicanos in Los Angeles through a binational Exchange\, Fandango Sin Fronteras that forged relationships cultivated through music\, focused on building community and awareness through social gatherings\, el fandango and participatory performance.
